James Marsters CAPRICA "Know Thy Enemy" Previews

Here are several previews for James' upcoming Caprica episode "Know Thy Enemy," airing Friday, 5 March:

Video – James Marsters' Caprica Debut!

Here it is fanboys and girls, the first look at Buffy alum James Marsters debut on Caprica.  Marters will be taking on the role of Barnabus Greely, a charismatic terrorist leader from The Soldiers of the One.  James Marsters was built for this kind of role and there is little doubt that he will bring his A-Game.  His addition to Caprica also helps bolster the geek credentials of the show, a very nice plus considering the momentum is starting to shift for the show – if Caprica keeps improving, I might even watch it live (not that I'm a Nielsen or anything.)

Here are the details on Marsters' Friday debut episode

"Rival industrialist Tomas Vergis arrives on Caprica demanding a meeting with Daniel, threatening to reveal proof that Daniel stole the chip that is key the U-87 Cylon, and Graystone’s military contract. Vergis whirls up a publicity storm that steals the heart of the Caprican public, and surprisingly serves up a friendly offer to Daniel that could save Graystone Industries. But there’s a catch to his proposal that could haunt Daniel for years to come.

"Clarice, panicked that off-world STO leadership has been backing a rogue named Barnabas, steps up her plans to acquire Zoe’s avatar program and may find her answer through befriending Amanda. Meanwhile, wanting to fulfill her own promise to Zoe, Lacy goes with Keon to meet the enigmatic Barnabas, opening herself up to a new world of danger.

"After the revelation that the avatar of his daughter Tamara is still lost in V-World, Joseph starts his quest to find her in a virtual world he knows nothing about."

Caprica Episode 6 (Lead In): Know Thy Enemy

After 5 episodes of Caprica, I can officially say that I am fully vested in this new series. I try not to look at the series as a Battlestar Galactica prequel. Doing so would force you to compare it to a legendary series. And anything compared to a legend will always find a way of coming up short.

What makes Caprica so compelling is not so much the science fiction aspect of the story, but more the character relationships and dynamics. Following the development of the arrogant Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) and the Tauron-born Joseph Adama (Esai Morales) is always satisfying. Surprisingly, I’ve also found the saga of Joseph’s daughter, Tamara (Genevieve Buechner), in V-world to be equally compelling. One of my favorite moments of this season so far was Tamara’s final scene at the close of episode 5, “There is Another Sky.” Seeing Tamara as the lone “boss” of V-World left a lot to the imagination. Hand-in-hand with that scene was the scene where Joseph learned that his daughter was still “alive” in V-World. His expression as he ran through the alley after Tamara’s V-World compatriot, before finally collapsing on his knees was especially poignant. Joseph will undoubtedly confront Daniel on this recent development. He may have given up his blood-lust vengeance for Amanda (Paula Malcomson), but recent events could call off the temporary ceasefire. I’m also curious to see how William finally makes his decisions for the future. Right now, William’s moral compass is siding with Joseph’s brother, Sam (Sasha Roiz), the mafia type character of the story.

However, all good things come with a touch of “bad.” The least compelling story arc is that of Clarice Willow (Polly Walker). Her moments seem like haphazard throwaways in the show. What we are left with are a few uncomfortable polygamy scenes. Also, Willow’s “One God” cult and her interest in Zoe Graystone (Alessandra Torresani) have yet to gather up enough story momentum to keep viewers interested in that side of Caprica. Following Zoe’s transitions between a dancing Cylon and her human side has been equally laborious. In only one episode Tamara’s character has already garnered more interest than that of Zoe’s. Hopefully, we’ll have an episode that really focuses on Zoe in the future before viewers lose interest in her part of the tale. Honestly, I would be thrilled if Caprica only focused on Joseph and Daniel.

Where do you stand on the Caprica series?

It's James Marsters On 'Caprica'

Get your first look at the popular genre actor on Syfy's newest show

By MICHAEL HINMAN Mar-4-2010
If you liked that British accent James Marsters had during his time on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Torchwood," get used to the real Marsters. That is, the actor willing to wrap his arm in (prop) barbed wire and show his full allegiance to the one true god.

Marsters makes his debut on Syfy's "Caprica" Friday in an episode that will have you talking until next week.

"Know Thy Enemy" introduces Tomas Vergis, who demands a meeting with Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) following the pilot episode theft of a chip that makes the U-87 Cylon work.

Vergis whirls up a publicity storm that steals the heart of the Caprican public, and surprisingly serves up a friendly offer to Daniel that could save Graystone Industries. But there's a catch to his proposal that could haunt Daniel for years to come.

Sister Clarice (Polly Walker), panicked that off-world STO leadership has been backing a rogue named Barnabas Greeley (James Marsters), steps up her plans to acquire Zoe Graystone's (Alessandra Torresani) avatar program ... and may find her answer through befriending Amanda Graystone (Paula Malcomson).

Meanwhile, wanting to fulfill her own promise to Zoe, Lacy Rand (Magda Apanowicz) goes with Keon (Liam Sproule) to meet Barnabas, opening herself up to a new world of danger.

"Caprica" airs Friday at 9 p.m. on Syfy.

Watch James Marsters in a Sneak Peek of Friday's 'Caprica'

Former 'Buffy' bloodsucker James Marsters starts his recurring gig on Syfy's 'Caprica' this Friday. Marsters plays cult leader and "one true God" worshipper Barnabus Greeley on the 'Battlestar Galactica' prequel series.

Syfy has sent out a sneak peek of Marsters' 'Caprica' debut, which features a grim-faced Barnabus talking to one of his followers and wrapping his arm in (yikes!) barbed wire:

Marsters is set to appear in five episodes of 'Caprica' this season. During a conference call with news outlets this week, he said the door was left open for his character to come back and possibly cause some more havoc for 'Caprica's V-club addicted, polytheistic ladies and gents.

'Caprica' is quickly becoming one of the best and most intriguing dramas on TV. The show gets better every week, and it delivers on promises made in previous episodes – like giving us a true and thrilling look inside of the V-world, offering more Tauron cultural history, and addressing the fallout from Daniel Graystone's appearance on Baxter Sarno's talk show. Now we'll get to see the story behind the Cylons' monotheistic leanings with the introduction of Marsters' terrorist leader, the guy ready to shove the "one true God" down everyone's throats.
